About Xi State
Xi State became a part of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International on November 30, 1935. On that day, the founding members of Xi State met at the beautiful and historic Hermitage Hotel in downtown Nashville to form the state level part of the organization. Sixteen women educators were part of the founders of Xi State; however, there was one lady who was also present. Ms. Tommie Reynolds, later the founder of Theta Chapter, was also at the meeting. At the time, the society only allowed sixteen members to be the charter members of the state organization, so Ms. Reynolds became the first member-at-large initiated into Xi State after her name was drawn from the other members.
Xi State's charter was official recorded on December 19, 1935 and was the fourteenth state to be organized into the society. |
